One of these has just come up for auction on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3703115455

No way am I paying hundreds for one but I'm wondering what technology is behind it.

All pass filters like a univibe or a modulated BBD?

Anybody got the schem?

Maneco

It's an mn3207 bbd modulated by a sine wave, with a clever fade in of the modulating sine...if i remember right...i had the schem ages ago...

Maneco

and i won´t mail you the schematic for being lazy and not properly completing your profile...

? Colour me stupid but... what?

I filled in as much as is relevant. Pointless filling in ICQ, AIM etc when I don't use them.

The BA662A chip is hard to find. There is a synth site that has a way to replace one section of it with a 3080.

Thanks for that Dan.

Yeah at first glance it looks like you could replace that with a CA3080 or 1/2 an LM13700 with small component tweaks.

Hello,
i'm looking for the schematics of the boss vb 2 vibrato . The link mentionned doesn't seem to work. Did you succeed and if so and could you forward it to me ?
Thanks
By the way has anybody tried to clone the vb 2 already?

How hard is the BA662 to find?  It's a proprietary chip Roland has made for them.  That sorta makes it REALLY hard to find, except for in Boss pedals that have been crushed by trucks or had other critical components burnt or some other reason that precludes repair.

If you lift the dry signal from any CE-2, you'll have a big chunk of what the VB-2 does, with the exception of the ramp-up delayed vibrato aspect.  Some folks may find that the most indispensible part of the pedal, though.

It seems that it is still possible to find ba 662 here in europe, as they were used in a lot of roland stuff (juno's etc) +it 's a vca and there seems to be some substitution available, even if the pinout is slightly different.
Concerning the ce 2 mod (i have one actually) part of what i find interesting in the vb2 is the possibility to delay the vibrato... + the momentary switching. Thanks for your help and everything Mark.
Olivier.

Not that hard to find, but bloody expensive ...

29.50 euros, US$36.56, or even £19.76

These guys say they are making that chip again:

http://www.technologytransplant.us/

The ebay seller chipsforbrains sells some of the stuff on the list. Maybe they can supply the BA662?

OG, the file is still there. Maybe if you throw the link into ReGet, GetRight or some other downloading utility?

Thanks Dan.
I've downloaded Get Right but nothing seems to work. So if by chance someone is more lucky or has a copy it would be nice to send it to my adress. Thanks.
