I'm totally jealous.
It's 800 miles to Sydney and it would take a month to find 1 deal like that.
You're onto a gold mine there, buddy!

Sounds cool, you should have a ski mask on and a gun for deals like that. :D

With all the dozen's of blues songs that start "Gonna get up in the morning" , its a fact that blues musicians are apparently the only ones that actually get up in the MORNING...

Amazing..... just amazing.

Congratulations! :D

Dang dude, you make me sick.

This sure ain't Kansas where I live!

BillyJ

Damn you I'm calling PETA (people for ethical treatment of audio) that is just too many cool cheap pedals for one man to have. There must not be enough feet to go around. Some are probably starved for a patch cable....
Your a sick man who needs help .......and I am here for you my friend!!!
Let me help you help the little critters. I have rolling coutry side here and more than enough patch cables to feed them all.
Don't do it for me or you......do it for THEM!

LOL! OK ok just goofing. Killer killer scores!! What else can be said some of the best hunting I have seen. WHat did you just spemnd a couple hundred of an entire effects rig!! AWESOME!!!!   :D  :D

Mark Hammer

Should I spoil your joy?  No.  These are great finds.  Congrats, and brag with pride.

But can I resist?  Nah.

Bought my 59 Bassman (w/3 original P10R's) for $30 in a pawnshop in Moncton in 1993.  It was originally $40 but the owner heard me mumble something about there being only 3 of the 4 speakers installed, so he did some quick mental math and dropped the price to $30.  You've never seen a man close his trunk and drive out of town so fast.  The scars on my tongue are still healing from where I bit it.

Pretty quick cure for atheism, eh?

Paul Marossy

Dang Mark! That is even worse!!

Just out of curiosity Jimbob, did a casino open up anywhere near you recently?

We had a casino open up across the river about 8 years ago, and the moment it opened, pawnshops started springing up everywhere like dandelions.  Sadly, our bargains are too often the spinoff of glitzy temptations that too easily ruin lives.

On a more positive note, wouldn't you just love a musician's version of "Extreme Makeover"? (a recent sur-reality show where folks who have some, uh, "visual image issues" like bad teeth and skin, a gut and other things win expensive cosmetic procedures, personal trainers, image consultants, and walk out studs and babes to a crowd of friends and family who can't get over the change).

You bring in the dented, warped and bashed Teisco you found with the dead pickup and shaky knobs, and Dan Erlewine helps you to refinish it, rewire it, pop in some new PUPs, refret and intonate it and turn it into a killer axe with a candy-gloss finish.  Or you bring in the Traynor, Elk or Carlsbro you bought at a yard sale and Gerald Weber retubes, recaps and biases it, recovers it in new tolex, changes the gain structure a little, and turns it into a sparkly sounding amp.

Now there is a show for Spike TV, when they've run out of Stripperella episodes.

It's Friday.  I can dream a little, can't I?

Paul Marossy

Casinos. I wonder if that's why the pawn shops suck here in Las Vegas. You wouldn't believe the asking price on the crap they have in pawn shops around here! I know for a fact that a lot of the stuff they are selling is more than the price of the same thing new. It's such a joke.

smoguzbenjamin

Hah, Holland has it's own version of 'extreme makeover' which they call 'Make me Beautiful'.... To be completely honest I usually think they look better before all the surgery.

Now either I'm a total idiot or there just isn't such a thing as a pawn shop around here. There's a 'used products' shop but they charge ridiculous prices for anything.... and there isn't even a casino here! :D
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

Paul Marossy

The idea behind the pawn shop in America is this:

You need some money. You take your valuable item (very often jewelry, guns, etc.) to the pawn shop and give it to them as collateral for a short term loan, which probably has a terrible interst rate on it. If you don't pay them back within a specified amount of time, they keep your item and then sell it to some unfortunate fool who pays a grossly inflated price. At least that applies here where I live. I do know that in other areas, pawn shops can be a good place to get stuff at reasonable prices.

I've never got a loan from a pawn shop, but it is my understanding that this is how it works. Pawn shops will also buy stuff from you outright, but you get totally screwed, probably 25 cent return for each dollar you spent to buy it, or probably even less than that.

Ben, look for 'kringloop' shops. You might be able to find something useful there. I once found a box of old tubes in one of those shops. How cool is that?! :-)

Ok..heres my secret.. at various locations throughout the US there are outlet stores for the Large companies that sell this musical equiptmnt--the trick is to find one near u, save a few bucks to take w you, go before closing, find someone who can actually barter w you--ussually a manager--not a sales rep--and talk him into a reasonable price--Oh yea, crossing you fingers, lucky charms, and lucky shirts do play a role in this...look on line for nearest outlet store--
