yeah, I've pulled the back off.  surface mount, tiny components, incredibly high density circuit... I have no idea what ICs are used. not the kind of thing I'd try DIYing...

Is the circuit not potted (i.e. under a huge black plastic square)?  I was under the impression it was.  If not, I might have to pick one up to reverse engineer.

niftydog

well... haven't looked on the underside of the board, the pot knobs are glued on and I didn't want to go to that extent.  But from memory it's a dual layer board with SMD on both sides.  Parts of it may be potted.  I'll have another look if you like... but I think you're talking fairly intense project here!

No need to go to any trouble, I was mostly thinking out loud.  If a schematic is going to surface, it's not going to be through me - my rule of thumb is that if it's going to be more expensive to clone than to buy, forget it (used ones go for $100-125).

SABDDI

Yeah, I wouldn't expect a scheme of this one to be surfacing any time soon.

that isnt too DIY friendly is it?

I guess ill just have to save up for one. Ill build the GT2 instead.

Well, not unless I can get my hands on one. It does look more simple than the gt2, but I don't know anyone that has one that I could borrow.

If anyone can pull this one off it's J Luja!

I'll be waiting for the schem to make the layout ;)

How do you get around the block of epoxy?

casey

on the bottom left hand corner of the circuit board, it looks as if
it has a couple of bad solder joints that needs to be fixed....  :)

try this link out, it's not the sansamp, but it might be better:

soldering iron at 800 degrees with a chisel tip I don't mind getting ruined

I'd be pleased to tryout any pcb layouts (or just build it from a schematic); this bass player can be 'cheap' as much as any of you guitarists .... ;)
