For myself, I don't think I've ever heard a Song or a Singer that Changed the way I looked at Music as Ray did the first time I heard him sing Born to Loose, What a Man and and what a Song.
He'll be missed but not Forgotten.

Definitely one of the greatest voices in music's history has been lost today.

God bless him.

If I could sing like him, I wouldn't need no FX.   8)

Ray Charles is immortal! His music will live forever.

I am also saddened by the loss of a pioneer of soul music (or music period!). We always want to play with effects to enhance our sound or "TONE". Sometimes we lose sight of the emotion and "soul" that can't be evoked by electronic wizardry.

The MAN had emotion and poured into everything I have ever heard him record.

Julliard can't teach you to play/sing from the gut

Take care and condolences to Mr. Charles (Robinson's(?)) family,
Tony

What a bummer. Another legend joins the ancestors.

Rest in Peace Ray.

Please excuse the US-centric viewpoint, but Ray's arrangement of "America the Beautiful" has always sent chills down my spine.  It still will if I get to his age.  What magic and elegance!

People, there's a lesson for us all:  sometimes, simple is best.  Coming from the "too much is never enough" school, I have a hard time remembering that.

The Lord's puttin a mean band together ...
