Well I thought this was a new Idea but I was wrong.  The fine feller that owns this website: http://www.lynx.net/~jc/pedals.html
has beat me to it.

"A country music producer once told me that the MXR DynaComp had a reputation for sounding better when the battery is tired - few circuits benefit from this but I thought I'd give it a try ... since the internal resistance of a battery is what increases as a battery looses strength we can mimmick this by inserting a sufficient resistance in series with a battery or wall-wart ... in the Dynacomp I'm dialing in about 10k resistor from a 25k trimpot in series with the battery - I measured 9.53 volts at the battery while the supply voltage on the idling dynaComp circuit now 4.65volts (bias with no-signal) ... this pedal seems to have a gentler, more natural attack as a result ... "

I also looked and read these websites thoroughly to suppliment my understanding of this thang.

I also went to Voodoo labs website and read all the info they had to offer on their power supply that has two sockets of Dying battery Sim.

So I did what the feller on http://www.lynx.net/~jc/pedals.html
did and I'm pondering adding the Rat Shack idea with the inductor off Jacks site.

It works great for me and I'm very happy with it.  And it was so super easy.

Peace and love to all.

Blues, I've been building pedalboards with varible power supply's ever since Eric Johnson said a dead battery sounded good to him, mine are normally set to adjust between 8.2 volt's to 9 .5 v..
Eric started the craze by state'ing this in one of those Guitar Rag's, Me, My ear's can sometime hear a difference, but not on some type of pedal's.

Cool!  I didn't know that part about Eric Johnson.  I remember reading somewhere about him being big into old carbon/zinc batteries.  Thanks.

The thing that first turned me onto this is reading somewhere that Duane Allman swore by dying batteries in his Fuzzface.  Then I read much later a thang about Billy Gibbons liking dying batteries in the Expandora pedal.  I love both of their tones so I was immediately turned on to the idea.  I then read even much later the thing about the Dynacomp.  I can't remember where I saw that, but it was way before I joined this forum.  I would venture to guess there are more big endorsers of dying battery tone that are not known.  I definately notice on the FF clone I got.  I'll have to find time to experiment with other effects.  I got an 77 dynacomp I'll get around to trying it with.  Can't seem to find time.  I have to much fun playing guitar.  I spend most days playing along with old blues men on the CD/stereo.  Today I sat around jamming along with some serious harp work of Sonny Boy on CD/stereo.  What a wonderful way to spend the day off!  :D
