Re: which comes closest, I love the Rat pedals, and the SD-1, while an overdrive, has also been one I keep going back to. For ones that are purely homemade, I too find the answer tends to be whatever I finished recently .

I've got a DIY Rat, and I'm thinking of either buying a vintage rat or making one of those multi-rats with the clipping element rotary switch. I really like that pedal.
