FET-based Treble Booster

Has anyone ever done anything like this? I was thinking a Rangemaster or Brian May Boost type of circuit, using a FET instead of a germanium transistor. What modifications would have to be made for it to work properly? I know squat about FETs and their pluses and minuses.
