With the Boss FA 1 fet amp layout at--
http://ustomp.com/index.html?menu=2§ion=2
it doesn't give any part number to Q1 in the diagram, can someone please sugest what a suitable fet transistor could be used for this circuit, and what type of IC is the 4558??Also here is a link to the original schematic -- http://www.8bitsindgenug.net/BossFA_1.png
Thanks in advance

Cheers

2SK246-GR

Lower right of the schematic for the FET

Replace with any low noise high impedence FET like the J201 or the 2SK30ATM.

Either a 2N5457 or MPF102 will do fine as well.  For the opamp you can use any industry standard pinout dual opamp such as a JRC4558D, LM833, TL072 etc.  I'm using a 2N5457 and a TL072 in mine, at least until I can get a 2SK246.

Funky...
What are those rounded rectangles, with spacey lines all about?
I think I see [?] two types of markings that indicate a node? one black on white, the other a black spot where wires connect?
Can't be, then the 50k at the top right would have it's outside lugs connected?...dohh, hafta go study some more and see if I can "cypher' it.
Edit: Yupp, they definitely made it hard [for me] to read...
 What do dashed lines rep.?
Why do they have a line goes through the pot's sections, and all the way around the schematic?
I guess if you know how to wire one it's all self explanatory...lol.
Sometimes I see these old schematics, and wonder why they marked them with such 'cypherz'.
Please instruct me to re read FAQ if necessary...I'm missing somethings.

That dashed line represents what's in the PCB and what's outside of it.

White circles mean pads for offboard components.

Thanks...that's making sense...

I've yust finished this improved version, and it works very, very nice. A good booster, with a tonestack, and it buffers very well too...

HEllo. I have done a layout with a program but i dont know if that correct. Could you see that?¿

btw: my layout is verified! Leave out R17 or use a higher value, like 2m2.

Thanks! Does it sound as good as reported? I am probably gonna build this but I will have to draw a board for it... don't do vero ;)  Well, I shouldn't say I don't do it but let's just say that I don't have any vero and tons of copper to etch... I could bread board it too but I am feelin so damn lazy these days. :P
Doesn't matter what you did to get it... If it sounds good, then it is good!

I just improved my pedal by adding a voltage doubler (from ebay china...) and a higher grade opamp (opa2604). Really worth it! I used a higher value for the pulldown resistor at the input, but lowered it to 470k (which is the original value). Sounds more "rounded" now
