Hi all...excuse me for being a "Noob" but I had a quick question about the Rangemaster grounding scheme that I couldn't find an answer to in the archives.

Is there any disadvantage to using negative ground with a PNP Rangemaster (I believe I've read that PNP Rangemasters don't "like" to be negatively grounded, whatever that means)...and am I correct in observing that the only real difference between a pos and neg rangemaster circuit is what polarity you use to ground the chassis and jacks?

Any info is GREEEEEEEEEEATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I know the PNP Neg ground schematic does work.
To not fry your last precious Ge, use a cheep Si for testing the circuit?
I've only tried to help when reading others woes of PNP Neg Gnd. [suggesting pos gnd] projects, never actually tried one, so I can play devils advocate here.
I do like the tone of a Rangemaster driving an Si FF, but never boxed them together because of the PS issues.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Thanks!!  -I'll  be giving the negative ground scheme a try, and I'll let you know how it turns out.
