well i built my p45 a couple weeks ago and recently hooked it up with a 12V supply taken from an old toy remote control car battery charger.

i was playing along and everything was fine - the higher voltage had solved my previous flat battery distortion problems, and all was good. then all of a sudden after being plugged in for 10 mins or so, this crushing wash of noise came over. it moved around sounding kind of like the ocean and was also vaguely in time with the phaser i think.

i unplugged it, then plugged it back in and it was fine, but after another 10 mins it happened again.

any thoughts about what could be causing this? im guessing it's probably the 1000uF cap in the PS, though i thought the problems would happen sooner than that.

thanks for any thoughts

I would replace the PS, charger is not good for a PS for efkts cct.

ok, i will get a new PS, but could i ask why it is such a bad choice for a PS?? To me all i see is a transformer with some caps to clean up the source.

what's the difference between this and any other PS??
