I built a Mosface, sounds great with Si Transistors, but mosfets aren't passing signal or even clicking when I socket them in a live circuit...
The pinout IS GSD as you look at the 2n7000 left to right isn't it? Tried a few but no go...hmmm, used a trim for Q2Collector, and 2k gain pot, other than that it seems just like the AMZ schematic...still trying to figure it out, started building it about 45 minutes ago...

SGD as you look at the flat side, left to right on Fairchild datasheet.

 I'll try that

Yes thanks again Ricky, it really works so much better that way.

Very smoooth FF sound, high gain, great crunch !!!
Simple elegance, Excellent souning circuit...Thank you Jack Orman!!!

Check out the Multi-Face at ROG, you can use a lot of different stuff in there Jfets, Mosfets, GE's, etc.  Gary did a nice job.  Also Tim E.'s site has the Many Faces of Fuzz that is cool and has some advanced designs with various pots for tweaking it.  I like the Retro/Tekno Mosfet Q1 Jfet Q2 variation.  Seems funny to use "modern" transistors in this ancient design.

IIRC the 2N7000 plugs in the same as NPN's 2N5089/2n3904/etc. and the BS170 is reversed.  The J201 is also reversed.  8)

Stick a Mosfet Boost in front of it.

Used it for recording tonight, sounds really great, great fun playing leads on it.
