Recently took apart a nonworking phono from the late 70's, possibly early eighties.  Anyhoo, it has diodes that look like glass, but with blue bands.  I'm hoping they're Ge.  Is that what they look like?   Because that'd be bitchin'.  Peace N Love,

quint and you can see the diodes

disclaimer: i'm not selling the item nor do i know the person !, just found the link via google, while searching for a picture of a germanium diode.

If you have a DMM measure one using the diode test function. If it measures aprox. .3 volts it's probably germanium. If it measures aprox. .6 or .7 volts it is probably silicon.

i've seen diodes with blue bands....and they're zener.

good luck, though :-D.  ANd test them...
