Based on the wiring diagrams at general guitar gadgets. Is it possible to wire up the adapter and leave the 9v clip out of the equation?

niftydog

you mean power the effect from power supply only and have no battery option?

Yes, absolutely it's possible... but why not have the option anyway?

I'm trying to debug the microamp i tried to build (and seem to have butchered) and i'd left the battery snap out (cos I dont use batteries anyway).
I'm not getting any power to the pedal at all I dont think cos the Led doesn't even light up, at least with the DIST+ i have stuffed up the led lights up when i switch it on (even if no noise accompanies it).

don't guess, be sure - use a multimeter to find out for certain.

LEDs are polarised devices, meaning, if they aren't in the circuit the correct way around, they won't work.
