hey i redrew this schem without the switching, and it seems misdrawn, or at least to be a little strange. im not sure how/if it works, so if anyone has any ideas it'd be greatly appreciated.

and if anyones built it that'd be even better!

thanks,
trent

hey trent, i redrew that schem a year a go....that's a basic fuzz
that's similar to a fuzz face.  it does have wierd switching....that
is what the original had though....so i just kept it the same and
just redrew it to a friendlier and more readable format.

i would keep it like the original though...the original had switching
from one stage to two stages......
i know it looks unorthodox......you could actually just keep the switching
as it was and add true bypass....

I'd like to take a look at the 'stage switching' schematic diagram!>?

i probably used the wrong terminology!  :)

it's the schem with the fingers.....how does this switching work?

Hello Hello-
Are there any suggested values for Q2's collector or the volume pot??
Thanks-
Brian.

Hello Again--
Are those 2N3565 trannys newer ones or the old , original ones??
 How old is this circuit??
Thanks-
Brian.

petemoore

I'll go out on a limb and estimate ~40 years maybe more.
the original schematic looks like it was printed in the 60's.

this circuit appeared in popular electronics in  February 1968.  Original design by: A. Leo.

Here is the breakdown of components as it is a little hard to read:

Q1: 2N3565
Q2: 2N3565
R1: 47K
R2: 15K
R3: 470 ohm
R4: 680K
R5: 4.7M
R6: 50K
R7: 6.8K
R8: 68K
R9: 10K
C1: .27uf
C3: .47uf
Appears to be no C2......?

Hello Hello-
Yep, older circuit!   This one uses the same trannys as the Sam Ash Fuzz from the same era.   I  noticed that there is a Treble booster circuit in the same collection of schematics  [another "A. Leo" one...]
Has anybody built the fuzz yet??
Thanks-
Brian.

Please post any progress reports on the Peach Fuzz...it looks interesting!

Hello Hello-
What really got my interest was that 680K  between the collectors!
Brian.

why?  im asking out of ignorance...

Hello Hello--
That resistor is really high.......there must be something about this circuit I'm missing.   I'm just used to seeing 470 ohm to 1K in that position.
Brian.

aron

Look at the 4.7M feedback resistor and the 50K emitter pot. Must be to compensate for that.

casey

well, i originally had munkey post this schem that i redrew a year
ago...then i found out the frantone had a box called a peach fuzz.
so i have renamed it the peachy fuzz.....  the original of course
can be found on the above previously mentioned link.....

Hello Hello Aron--
Yeah, I saw those, also.........wonder what the reason for all the high values is......tranny choice????
At first I thought the 680K might be 680 ohms.....then I saw the 4.7meg.
Wonder if this is the same circuit as the "new" Peach Fuzz  with 3 controls on it?
Brian.

Hello Hello-
Woops, guess you just answered my last question, Casey!

no totally different than the new peach fuzz.....i just named it that
after i redrew to be cute....then i heard of another fuzz by that name
and have decided to call it the peachy fuzz....which is even cooler...

Hello Hello-
Oh crap...now we're gonna have to find out what's in the Frantone Peach Fuzz!
Anybody built the "Peachy Fuzz" yet???
Brian.
