I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

Looks like a piece of furniture...
I guess I could sit on it while I'm playing it.
Kinda like this one: http://www.firebottle.com/ampage/homebrew.cgi?cat=ga&page=175

Ok, poking fun aside, they're cool.  8)

Very cool!  My friend's cottage is filled with seventies furniture - the amp would fit right in!

I wouldn't want to sit on a metal chair with 300 something volts B+ under my rear...

Did you see the mailbox amp? That was pretty interesting, too.

smoguzbenjamin

One thing's for sure, that chair's gotta be a favorite in cold winters

If you go to that dudes website www.retrodyne-amps.com you'll see the one he built for me. The Dynaluxe Reverb pictured on his home page. The warning on the back is custom too. It reads- "WARNING, lethal voltages lurking inside waiting to kill you. Any attempts to service this amp may result in death, dismemberment, or unintentional gender change. Country musicians read this warning again without moving your lips so much"
Seriously though, Alex makes a nice amp.
BTW, my band plays Country like music.

BDuguay-

Cool. So how do you like that Dynaluxe Reverb? In terms of the sound, can you compare it to any other amps?

BDuguay

Hey Paul
The Dynaluxe tube configuration is similar to my AC30 (both EL84 power tubes) and, not surprisingly, sounds similar. What makes the 2 amps different is 15watt Alnicos (Silver Dogs) in the AC30 compared to 25 watt Celestion Greenbacks in the Dynaluxe. The Dynaluxe is more "full bodied" than the AC30, not as "chimey". Alex used a reverse engineered "Radio Spares" O/T for this amp which lends a Marshall break-up qaulity to the sound. It's only 18 watts (2 - EL 84's. The AC30 has 4 - EL84's) and sounds killer when dimed. The simplicity of the control panel is pefect for me. It's like my buddy Jim from Buffalo, who is also a Retrodyne owner, says "as you get older, you tend to confuse easier when there is more controls". I like it in that regard because it's similar to my AC30.
