I want to post some sound clips. Could someone please tell me how this is done. All I want to do is to be able post some small clips of sounds from some of my creations to an website that I have been trying to create[geocities unless there is a better free one]. Bare bones cost at first, even if its not the greatest sound reproduction, so I can learn the procedure then I can add  things to bring up sound qaulity.#1 using win 98 standard w/its soundcard#2 guitar into line in or mic in 1/4 to 1/8 converter#3 from pc to website ,do you need software to create and store thebytes on your comp. and be able to post them to site? note I have the older power tracks vers. 6 which I believe would be adeqaute for what I want to do. any help would be appreciate. All I want to do at first is just hear  a posted clip then I will be like a mouse in a maze and retrace my steps to upgrade sound.

Just to give you an example with a sound clip uploaded on a free site, this one

http://www.finitesite.com

Here is the sound clip

I just copied the link with a left clip/copy link with my mouse, and used the URL function for the messages.

It's the same method that you use to show an image that is on your site.

Like this for example.

Btw, I use this free site when I want to do things fast, with no need of any FTP program to upload files. But I don't know about Geocities.

I know some sites don't permit to link files from your site.

Added, a test for Tripod.

To show you what happen when they don't want you to link from their free site...

You are able to download it with a left click, but you can't just click on it to listen to it. And that's what you want to do I think.

http://guitarists.net/lessons/lessons.php/home_recording.html                     This is a very useful site that I found, it tells all the basics and check out the  eqaulization tutorial as it has god info. on equing certain freq. ranges. I think this site has been posted before but I found it useful and decided to repost just in case someone missed it.

This is a follow up to my own post. I have discovered that I already had everything that I needed, About 3 or 4 years ago I purchased power tracks pro audio ver. 6[ at the time it was one of those "I really dont know what to do with it  now but I am sure it will come in handy later ontype of things. I made my 1/4 to 1/8 adapter / loaded the program and I am sort of on my way. Does anyone know how you can record the guitar and hear the effects plug ins at the same time applied to what your playing..Another interesting note for win 98 users if you go to the entertainment part of your programs and click on the sound recorder you have something like 16 seconds of recording time to play with and win 98 even added an echo effect and reverse play back option that the beatles would have killed for, how cool is that . Recording on an extremely low budget I reckon but hey you have to use whats at your disposal. Any one else that uses pro audio vers. 6 ?
