Equalizer Theory

CAn anyone tell me where can I find good theory for the equalizers ? I need to make a school  work and I need to start it from the basics and after that build an equalizer..
I looked at Aron's site and didn't find it. I also did a forum search and found nothing

You did not mention if you want digital or analog or both. And if you can find National Semiconductor Audio Handbook from year about 1980 there is few nice analog design examples with some practical theory, active and passive analog design, mostly opamp stuff. But quess newer and better theory books exists.

Duncan Tone Stack calculator is a treasure, go and find it.

For digital stuff I dont know much, except I have sometimes used ready made programs and hardware stuff. But search words like "digital+filters" or "digital signal processing" might give some links for starters...
