I modded my RAT using the AMZ Rat article ($7 and pretty good, you get the BMP too) with the Metal Rat tone control. It doesn't really matter if you have the article or not, to answer this question.

I put a Big Muff tone control in place of the filter, and now the volume is barely present. Does the BMP tone cut that much volume? I'm not sure if I wired something wrong, or it's just the control sucking all the volume.

Thanks,,,

Did U build the FATRAT "stock" first to check construction/output??
Then did U replace the Tone control, R10, along with R4 and C6?
These parts comprise the FR tone control.
C7 is a coupling cap, leave it in.
Inserting the BMP tone circuit *should* B OK.
The tone control is the same for all 3 versions of the BMP--
(PNP, NPN, or opamp).
Got all the midpoint biases correct????

Probly, I always stick with the 5088 gain recovery transistor section as per BM circuit...the one right after the tone pot and cap.
Yupp just boxed a Heavy Metal Pedal with BMP tone control and gain recovery Q.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Ya did? Do ya like it? I've got my bass player using one on "Pinball Wizard".
