I built a Roland Jet with help from Mark B. It does sound really close to the fuzz/phase in WTL.

MarkB

jmusser - sent you the schem..

hey bill, how ya been?

puretube

is it a 6-variable-stager, with extra fixed ones?
(not sure if I seen that schem a while ago...)

Hey Mark, been busy at a new job. Not much time for fun.

The Jet Phaser is one of the most over the top, versatilel(very clean to nasty nasal with incredable depth range),crazy phaser I've ever heard....at least with a couple of mods I did.

MarkB

hope the new job is going well...

I moved up to Birmingham for my wife's work, and there's NOTHING up here for me so far - so it's mostly been golf.

Time to break out the iron and build..

The Jet Phaser is a great all around phaser for several occassions.

It has two footswitches (not enough IMO): one for bypass, one for LFO rate of the phaser (a fixed high speed rate, and a low speed rate sate with a pot). When the rate switch is pressed the LFO will slowy speed up or slow down which is a nice effect in itself.

The phaser also has a control for resonance. In addition it has a six position rotary switch: the first two positions have a clean phaser sound with different pole positions of the filters; the second four positions add the "Jet" effect -- a fuzz tone.

The Jet effect has a level to set the volume of the fuzz. The other four "Jet" positions of the rotary switch sound to me like two positions add straight fuzz, two positions add a fuzz octave effect while switching between the two pole positions of the filters.

Great little device! Very versitile!

yeah, I no it`s great: been touring with Larry Graham in the late 90s a couple of times, listening to his "The Jam" solo every night up front or backstage in awe
-thats the song when he steps on this goodie- and goes aaaaallll the way...

just wondered about the schem... (6 FETs, IIRC ?)

MarkB

puretube -
shoot me a PM with your email if you want the schem..
I think it's actually 8 fets.. haven't looked in a while... but it's big.

Sorry puretube, I misunderstood your question.

I thought your question was about the options of switching between poles. I thought I had a copy of the schematic around here but I can't seem to find it.

hi MarkB: that`d be very kind of you!
-had my HDD searching for different shortcuts yesterday, coz I thought I had it somewhere, without ever printing it out... didn`t find it... -

BTW: when I took Larry & his wife for a tour of our town in my little bus

(easter `96), I sure had my latest demo-cassette running...

Larry mentioned he could hear that I`m a big BOOTSY fan,
and when my song "Oh, Baby" (an uptempo ballad) came on,
Tina (his wife) yelled: "hey, that sounds real "Ernie"! ".
(they are friends, and had met him just before).

Well, that song got a LesPaul into BMPdeLuxe into SmallStone solo,
which was intended to sound like the That Lady effect...

Not a schematic but a couple of nice photos:http://www.modezero.com/jet_phaser.htm

If your eyes are better than mine, you might be able to tell from this.

puretube

thanx, Johnny: looks like 8 moving FET controlled stages, at first glance...
(must sound s.th. like 2 synced SmallStones in series)

puretube

MarkB: thanks a lot!

well, the stages count 8 FET controlled ones - nothing so special - feedback over all the stages;

haven`t analyzed the input-/Fuzz-circuit yet...

but you should get the phasing part of it exactly like that with 4 xtra
stages in a Small Stone...,
especially when you
(GEZ): take a look at the LFO section...
