it's a transister.
should B able to make it amplify.
Therefore can make it fuzz.
Over a Buck each.
Why not get some from Mouser.
They have JFETs and MOSFETd in many sizes.
Did U look at a datasheet for the ebay trannys??
Are thay designed for switching or amplifing??

"V" = Vertical DMOS Enhancement MOSFET

datasheet here---
www.supertex.com/pdf/datasheets/2N6661.pdf

Mouser part #  781-2N6661
Page 336 in catalog
TO-39 case(same as ebay picture)

Mouser wants   $2.80 each.
So....
i guess, they're cheaper on ebay...
Mouser usually charges bout $6 shipping.

If U R looking to build the MOSFET blackfire or other
similar MOSFET stompboxes, i'd recomment using
the 2N7000 and similar.  Cheaper, exactly what' called for.

all i did was type "2n6661" into Google.
came up with both linke in 30seconds.
Have U googled lately??

Toneman's right on, if you want a mosfet get the 2n7000, there are several batches of 100's on ebay for about 5 bucks,

i have a  2n7000 in my ROG multiface, and a few j201's.  i haven heard "DMOS" before so i figured i would ask the pros...

i did find some info on them, buti dont really understand the datasheets and how the different figures correspond to sound.. if that makes any sense.

i was wondering if this was anything different or unique than the usual j201,2n7000,mpf102 stuff that we all use.

Q: if you ran a MOSFET or FET like this one at say the 90v  on the datasheet, and biased it to half the supply voltage 45v would this have the same effect and sound at the normal half of 9v ---4.5v?

thanks as always

from what I have read you could do this, but, some people have wrote in the article's I have read that a jfet on high voltage sounds very harsh,
one of the early Mesa Boogie amps has a Jfet added to the preamp on high voltage, I think it sounded bad so no one else that i know of has ever tried doing it again.
