hey guys, as some of u know i build this pedal with the guts of FETZER VALVE, its the first stage of the MARSHALL 1987 SILVER JUBILEE... i thought it would only boost a little of my signal but instead it gave me a nice overdrive like ANGUS YOUNG's on YOU SHOCK ME ALL NIGHT LONG, i have MP3 so that u guys can hear them:

BYPASS>>>> http://www.geocities.com/hitnrunmusic2004/1.mp3

WITH REVERB AND EQ>>>> http://www.geocities.com/hitnrunmusic2004/1.mp3

SCHEMATICS

i recorded them like this, first the guitar straigt to the sound card, then i just unplugged the guitar and plugged to the SILVER RHYTHM and then to the sound card and the 3th has fx,, i didnt touch the volume on any track, thats how the SILVER RHYTHM would sound with the volume all the way up,,, now........ as u can see on the schematics it has 2 volume controls, the first one is as on the original schematics of the silver jubilee the INPUT GAIN and it has a "treble bleed" so when u lower the INPUT GAIN it would give u some extra treble,, and the other would keep the volume up or down, even tho the first pot can already work as a volume i liked the idea of 2 volume controls one with teh treble bleed and the other standar...... i had to change the input cap wich is supossed to be .047 for a .033 and maybe that gave me more bass (wich i dont like)..... im about to leave to a pep rally, and i really need to go (to hit on girls :D), i need a new miss NERO haha, ill keep u informed, later

Nice!

You mean in parallel with the 2k2 resistor you used a 220 uF electrolytic cap?

The *bypass* and *reverb and EQ* links seem to point to the same file, but I really like the fact that you provided a bypass *reference* example. The circuit sounds really cool and useful, and I like the way you presented it .

That's great! I've been working on a couple of circuits yo get a Jubilee tone myself. One of them being a DoD250 type. So far I've got a great Angus Young and Ace Frehely/Kiss ('73-'79) sound coming from it, but alas no Slash tone.

It's interesting. By changing a few values and adding a cap and changing the volume out it sounds real '70's Marshall like. On the ouput diodes add ann extra one in series with the other one to ground and instead of the .001 change to .01 add a 2.2 cap in seiries to the 100k pot and swap lugs 1 & 2 on the 100k. Also add a 47pf to lugs 1 & 2 on the 100k pot. All of this increases the midrange response, lessens the drive, and gives more volume boost. It also alows the user to use the volume and gain like tone controls. Less volume more treble, more volume more bass response. Like some of the older amps of the time period. The gain just adds more treble in a small way.

I bet buy adding your circuit to this may get that old GNR tone. The Jubilee 2555 has a diode and LED section in it.  :P

Am I understanding correctly that you subbed a 220uf  for a .68uf cap (source cap)? Curious, because the Fetzer uses a 22uf, and I don't know enough to know what effect changing the value of this cap has.

well if u check the schematics for a MARSHALL SUPER LEAD it uses a .68u on the lead channel and a 220u on the normal channel and since i didnt hace the .68 in hand i used the other one i had, but so far it works fine, im defenetly going to talk to our DIY GURU's like mr. ARON, RG or Escobedo to see what else i can do to it, what id recomend is to use a 2nd a 3th stage as shown on the thunderchief and 18 to kinda simulate the speakers of the amp, so far i just wanted to share that circuit with u guys but ill keep working on the SILVER JUBILEE myself and ill post it when im done, see ya guys..

I got a bunch of Mallory .68uF Box Style Films for cheap. $.10 a piece plus minimal shipping. Free shipping if you want 100 or more!

Yes, this is spam. I like spam. Fried.

I thought the captured a lot of the Angus tone before you run it through reverb and eq. The dry sample was sweet! That thing don't need any other help to my ears. Nice circuit!

Hello Hello-
I replaced the .68 / 2K   pair with a 2K pot and a 22uf .   More crunch [if you want it] and more control over the crunch.
Brian.

Hello Hello -
  Any other suggestions or mods??

i recently build another stage for this circuit, its the 2nd stage of a JCM900, u just gotta wire the output from the volume to the next stage (cap and resistor network) and then the volume should go to last cap... this next stage is going to give u a BIG ASS BOOST!!!, but not distortion, it made my guitar sound twice it does with just the regular circuit!!!
now the only problem i still is the fact that i get too much bass, u should add a tone control, somethingt o take the bass out...
look for the schematics here.. http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=4241292&a=31434379&f=

if the link doesnt work go here

and go to the album called "Schematics"

I've been working on a 2555 version, but you've already got it schemaiticed and it looks like you'll have it done before long. I really want to do an op-amp version. So that's where my efforts are going to go to instead. Good job!!!  :D

i think one of the coolest things about the 2555 is the fact that the TONE STACK isnt like the "CLASSIC" marshall tone stack, if u build an opamp version of the jubilee it should have the same tone stack.... and the Treble Bleed on the Gain Control

That was my thought. Either there or the very end. It depends on if I use one op-amp or more. I'll know in a couple of days. I've been working on the biais for the input for one side of a TL082. This means it you could use a TL081/071 and have a similar sound to your first Silver Rhythm. We will know here soon. Thanks for yur input and I'll keep you posted to my progress.  :)

i had an idea of using a TL072 to simulate a WHOLE 12AX7 since that tube has tube SIDES and since at runoffgroove the told me after using more than 5 FET the sound changes i thought of trying the TL072 version but im not that good with OP AMPs, i know a little bit more about FETs.... good luck buddy........

Hello Hello--
Anybody have any "hiss" problems with the "Lead" version??  I used two 2N5457's for my version and there's a pretty good "Niagra Falls" thing going on [especially when the guitar volume control is turned down...].
Is this just inherent in the circuit 'cuz of the gain???
Thanks--
Brian.
