Boss FS-5U switch question

This may be slightly off topic, but I was wondering if there's anything special about the non-latching Boss FS-5U switch.  It just looks like a momentary ground switch with an actuator on it.

I'm looking at getting a Boss RC-20 loopstation, but it needs two of these footswitches to access the reverse and to scroll through the saved loops without bending over and twiddling knobs.  I would like to save $50 and build the FS-5U if possible.

Thanks!

I have one and can look inside if you have not found your answer already, though I suspect that you are right.

I haven't found any more information.  If you get a chance to look in yours, that would be great.  If not, I'll just get the pedal and mess around with grounding the signal through a pull-down resistor until I figure it out.

Thanks a lot!
