I haven't even bought a Hammond yet...
 I Used anything else..
 Computer Monitor A/B Box
Cut and bend one from a sheet ..[can shorten fingers]
 RACO with JB Weld ...EZ
RACO bondoed 'flat' all over [time consuming and labor intensive...can turn into a mess [if catylist is not the right proportion]...looks 'right' after three coats/sandings.
Front panel [Alum] off an ONKYO reciever
Sewn and soldered sheet [cut + bent] and copper wire...cool look...fairly labor intensive.
Broken Effects enclosure ... easiest [count your pots etc.]
If you're good at drilling accurate holes [not too hard, I use a small bit very slow to hit the mark, a punch makes it even easier...I like to start with a small bit and work up...Varibit makes this process even easier] a Hammond or knock off is probably well worth it. Then I use an oversize bit by hand to remove the burrs to a slight champhor on the edge of the holes.
