Any Ibanez SM-7 (Smash Box) Mods?

I have a SM-7 and love the crunch it gets. But it does not smooth out at lower drive settings. I'm wondering if something can be done to get a tube screamer-ish overdrive (cleaner, blues tone) at lower drive settings. I was thinking of throughing JRC 4558D's in it but they come stock with them.
