I was just going through some archived threads and I saw one that stated that the CA3080 is no longer in production. Is this really the case?

If so then we should all take a lesson from the OC44 and stock up. Imagine 20 years from today on the forum:

"I scroed bigtime!!!! 5 CA3080's for $150!!! YES!!! Now I can build that ross compressor....now there's the issue of the 2SC1849...."

Yes - but I imagine there'll be stock with some suppliers for a little while yet. However, there are people buying up 'lifetime' supplies from the synth-diy area, and so on. I'd also guess that people that make Ross Compressor clones will need to stock up too. I've just got 100 myself!

I think it will be a while until they really go up.  Especially since very similiar products are still being made (LM13700).  BBDs are so expensive because there's no analog delay lines as such (well, none made by reticon or panasonic anyways...) being made any more.
