In the current issue (Sept) of Guitar Magazine (UK) there's a three page article on the Tonebender + pics.  There's a link to this site:

http://www.netshopboys.com/colorsound/

It's still under construction but is worth favouriting for when it's up and running.

The tone bender was never a favourite of mine, but then again I only ever got to play late 70s jobs so I really ought to give them another go.

Man them colorsound guys must have been ahead of their time...they must have been working overtime..like some folks do these days..ones that hang out at Aron's.
I hope he get s the whole collection of known Colorsound products...he could open a Museum exhibit!!!

Damn.

I've been waiting to find a copy of the AUGUST issue of Guitar (UK) in stores here and haven't seen it yet. There was supposed to be a "DIY Tube Preamp" article.

http://www.kissmyamp.com/ was the american distributor, and they still had a few units left last year... they may still.  for some reason their site is down at the moment, but you can see it at google.com if you click on the cached version after searching for kissmyamp.

This pre is an Altec 1566A with two channels and one power supply but with a 12at7 output tube.

This article seems to be a rewriting of this link (but now you have to pay some fee to access the 'electric crayon project' :

 http://www.tangible-technology.com/tubes/altec.html

Maybe someone here saved thoses pages, but just find an Altec 1566A schem and ask if you have some issues.
The 'Guitarist' article seems to be divided into three parts at least and this one is purely introduction. If I remember the only mod added to the original Altec lies in a low gain input, bypassing the first tube for an out of phase lower gain input.

It seems to be a great simple project...

Hello Hello--
The "Kiss My Amp" guys went bye-bye......no longer in business.  They were the ones who had the Colorsound pedals on ebay awhile back.
Brian.

Quite a bit of the site seems to be up and running now, though it takes forever for a lot of it to load.  The pedals link is worth a look at - some cool looking stuff there!
