i've played around with a coron ds-7 and it sounded really cool. it's triggered by a piezo cell so you have hit it to get a sound.
but i immediatly started wondering if it could be triggered by a guitar signal.
i found some info about it http://m.bareille.free.fr/synth.htm

i imagine it would be cool to make 80's synth sounds with your guitar :D

Your post doesn't ring any bells...DS-7...[?].
 I tried building a Coron 10 once [DIST+ 'offshoot].
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

I saw this some time ago, looks very interesting. You will need a circuit to trigger the DS-7 with the guitar.

Don't those boxes have a trigger input (1/4" socket)? I could have sworn the one I played with did.....

I have a Synare box that looks mighty similar to the Coron. I had it sort of working, but then it died. I need to redo all the pots and try to get it to happen again.

basically it was designed to clip on to the rim of your drum and when you hit the drum, you would trigger the piezo inside it and make a syn-drum sound with your drum.

yep, i played with it like that, just hitting it with my fingers. but it would be cool to use it as an actual effect triggered by a guitar with a bypassstopswitch instead of a piezzo

What sound you want to create?

If I beat really hard on a string I can trigger my Boss PC-2. It also goes off if I run a simple oscillator into it. It's not too different from a DS-7.

Kind of boreing to tell the truth.

My fave is to run drum machines into drum synths. With the drum sounds from a 707 my synths will trigger with some vestige of the envelope from whatever drum the 707 is playing. The fun starts when you start messing with the knobs on the synth.

If Tim Escobedo's Ugly Face had an LFO it could really travel in the neighborhood of a DS-7 in positive sweep mode.

Just about any boost type thing will trigger it. The catch is, all you are doing is triggering it. It will give off the same sound no matter what you may be doing on your guitar. Depending on how you have the sense and decay set up, that sound will go off shortly, or last as long as your string is vibrating.

Replacing the DS-7 VCO with one that would work from the pitch of your guitar would be a whole new ball of wax.
