I've gone through mouser, and all the amp websites I know of, and I can't find a 600 ohm primary 8 ohm secondary transformer anywhere.

Where can I get one?

U could use a 1200ohm primary if it had a centertap.
(and a similar power rating)
did U google for some tube amp supply places???

Well, after reading the f***ing manual, so to speak, I learned the part number for the transformer (Hammond 119DA).  This transformer is presently sold at www.radiodaze.com.  It's only $18.06!

I only had to search through about 8 sites to find it.  Hooray for the internet!   :D

Actually,

it's my fault.  I was too lazy to put a 'bill of material' for the Sopht amp.  The site doesn't make it clear what one needs in order to build a Sopht amp.  I will update the site shortly to add this information.

Thanks for pointing it out!

Cheers,
Stpehane.

slajeune - Anytime!   :D

Actually, if I'd just read your docs more carefully, I would have noticed that you mentioned that transformer right off the bat.

That said, a parts list WOULD be sorta cool.  I just whipped one up last night for the first 12AL8-power-tube version.  It wasn't bad, there aren't too many parts!

Since you are in Phoenix, why don't you just drive down to Antique Electronic Supply, 6221 S Maple Ave Tempe, AZ 85283, and buy one?

If I lived in the same city as this store I'd be broke...

Because I'm tired of fighting off the hordes of tone-loving ogres....

Actually, I don't see that particular transformer on their website.  I emailed them last night around 10:00 to see if they have one hidden somewhere.

If they do, I guess I'll be stuck fighting off the tone-loving ogres again!

***edit*** also, Antique Electronic Supply is only about 10 minutes away from my phat palatial estate.  I'm one of the lucky Phoenicians.  If I was on the west side, it would be an hour drive!  ***end edit***

Well, I'm an idiot.  Although I couldn't find that transformer on their website, it IS in the catalog which they have conveniently made available in pdf format.

I guess I'd better get my tone-lovin' ogre whackin'-stick out of the closet.
