tube pin out questions.

I'm starting to build my ax84 p1, and im looking at a data sheet for an 12ax7.  it has pin 1-9 labeled.... now i woudl assume that it would be labeled from a top view of the tube, but it looks like it could be from the bottom the way its drawn.

anyways here's how its labeled 1 being on the left 9 on the right with the space at the bottom.

1 plate 1
2 grid 1
3 cathode 1
4 filament 1
5 filament 2
6 plate 2
7 grid 2
8 cathode 2
9 filament common

It's the bottom. Find 1 and count clockwise.
