does the little stripe on a diode indicates the sense it sould be placed ?

On a schematic, a diode is drawn as followed:

The vertical line is the same as the line on the diode.

the white mark is the cathode. the other (unmarked) end is the anode. current will flow from the anode to the cathode, but not the other way.

CONVENTIONAL current will flow from the cathode to the anode.  Electrons flow the other way :-D
