Sorry its sorta off topic, but I wanted to get more hits on this...

That great amp that I posted about in the lounge doesn't work.  I was told it worked before I got it, but I didn't test it before I took it apart...didn't wanna charge up caps.

OK, I did basic tests.  The transformer whines.  I get ~75v AC off one secondary, and ~24v across the other.  Power reaches the preamp stage.  The speaker connection seems fine, and the speaker looks ok.  The only thing that doesn't look good in the amp is the a choke, but I did not test this - is the only thing to do there check for continuity?

When the gain knobs are turned to 10, I get some whine from the amp itsself, but nothing from the speaker.

I guess the possibilities of what to do:
1.  Audio probe the preamp section.  See if I'm losing the signal somewhere.
2.  Use the pre out/power in jacks to find where the problem is occuring.
3.  Try another speaker, or try this speaker on my guitar amp.
4.  Something else.

I guess I'm kinda overwhelmed, and thats why I'm comming to you guys.  Its my first time digging into an amp :-/
