Nice link, and there is a load more useful stuff on the Rane website, they also have schematics for many of their products available for free, which is really outstanding IMO.

Yeah, very nice authoritative paper.  I especially like the "EQ-tree".  Very good summary of "what will this be able to do for you?".

First equalizer I ever worked with was a White, I think, in a university media studio in 1972.  I had to master some instructional videotapes for a course, and we needed to make the background music (I chose "Dawn" from the first Mahavishnu Orchestra album) more palatable and the profs I interviewed more audible.  I thought EQ was the greatest thing ever invented.
