Speaker recommendations?

I'm going to build a small solid state amp for my workstation, so I don't have to keep dragging my breadboard over to my amps to try out different circuits.  I'm going to use an old P.A. speaker enclosure - the kind you used to see hanging on walls in high school (Wakefield-Eames - a very hip looking art-deco design) - to house the driver and amp circuit.  I don't want to spend a ton of money on the driver, but would like to get something that will give me a sound that is at least in the ball park of what I'll get from a full rig (I have one cab with an Eminence speaker, very dark and bluesy and one cab with Weber ceramic blue dogs - much brighter, Voxier tone).  I'll be using either (or both) the Ruby and Tim Escobedo's Class A amp designs.

Basically, I want something that sounds decent with a tone more on the trebly side.

Any suggestions?

One place I'm looking: Tubesandmore.com has a wide range of Jensens available - from  $30 ceramics to $90 neodymium.  I've never used Jensens before, but the price looks right - much more affordable than Weber or Celestion.

Oh yeah - it's a 12"
