DPDT switches

hi all, i am new to this board and have been working on "the muffer" beginner project. i got the circuit working but am having trouble with the dpdt switch for true bypass. i wired it exactly like in the schematic and it still doesnt work. i tinkered with some odd wirings for it and finally got it to work, but not according to the way the schematic specifies. i am using an on/on dpdt switch but am wondering; am i suppose to use an on/off dpdt switch for it? thanks, garrett
