tell me if "traveler" (single "l") is correct English?

Or:
can I add another Japanese equipment typo to my list?

Examples of: "Franger" instead of flanger on the PCB of an Ibanez UE400, "Aikaline" on Ibanez master series pedals bottom label, "Effets" loop on my neighbours obscure guitar amp. "Batter" snap on Shin-Ei pedals with a battery label etc etc.

Both "traveler" and "traveller" are accepted spellings, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary.

i think "one L" is   "most" correct.
1st hit   "National Geographic Traveler"

Now if National Geographic thinks "traveler" is correct......

and what about aluminium  ??

On the back of my old Yamaha REX50 FX it says....
" refer to quarified technician only"  !!
perhaps thats a guy set in stone ?? LOL

Maybe that explains. My dictionary said double l as well and Google does give hits on typo's (although suggesting the correct spelling).

Actually, it was originally alumium, but Sir Davy couldn't make up his mind, first changing it to aluminum to agree with its Latin root (alumina), and finally to aluminium to match his other discoveries (potasssium, sodium, et al). The American spelling came from Charles Martin Hall, whose electrolytic process made aluminum production possible. The IUPAC prefers the ium spelling, but considers both acceptable.
