Please help me thank Aron and Keko, who also generously offered some space. Some things of interest are:

-Revised Blackfire, which is designed not to oscillate without the extra output transistor (which sounds better IMO, less fizzy/gainy).

-JFET Vulcan, which theoretically should "just work" with all J201's, which are usually all over the board for biasing.

-Added a gain pot to the octave-down so it can be fine-tuned to sound cleaner. Should be an easy mod.

Welcome back, Joe!!!!!!!!!!!

Good to see this all up again!
An easy (and possibly interesting) mod to the Vulcan would be, much smaller emitter bypass caps, down to .01mfd even.

Mr Davison

You have been dearly missed, also in Europe.
The Obsidian is very popular and so is his creator!
Hope this comeback marks a turning point .

Many success for your professional and privat achievments!

Joe, great to see you back.  I have a Joe Davidson bread board that has various "Frankenstien" versions of your distortion stages on it.

I built a Jfet version of the Vulcan as you suggested in one of the posts, that looks very much like this one.  Main difference, is I ended up using 47K resistors instead of 33K for better bias with the J201's and J202's I had.  I also tend to use batteries at less than 9 volts.

Children, if you haven't built some of these distortions, you need to.   8)
