Yeah. So far using a JFET input and Ge output sounded the best, but had the lowest gain. I'll try those suggestions RG. Looks like you can optimize parts count based on what the final circuit will need.

I remember a Fuzz Face schematic that had a switch to change transistors (Q1) in it.  Hmmmm.
