Khas Evets

After building a couple boosters, I've noticed that they control gain in various ways. I've identified four methods (I'm sure there are many more). I'd be interested to here from the experts here how the various methods differ in tone and function.

1. Voltage Divider on collector.
2. Variable Resistor on collector.
3. Variable Resistor on emitter, in series with cap.
4. Variable Resistor on emitter, no cap.

Well I am no expert, but it seems you've got one of 'em little studied thingy's that people just choose at random. If I were you, I'd breadboard a simple booster (LPB 1/2?) and just see how these things affect it (it's a good example, as it's a simple circuit, and has no existing gain control).

Cheers,
