Hey

I bought a boss Metal zone the other day. I think its an OKay pedal with a lot of gain but It's kinda to harsh sounding to me.

What could I do to this peadl to take out some of the harshness but still keep the distortion and gain?

btw- i'm playing through a Peavey triumph 120 tube amp. I heard these pedals sound better with SS amps.

search the forum, tons of mods.
try: "Boss MT-2 mod"
or: "Boss Metal Zone mod"
Now, don't you start that again!

so if I wanted to add a cap to the diodes to mellow out the highs where exactly do I solder the cap to? Each end of one diode?

You can get the Metal Zone to sound pretty smooth, IMO. With that 4-band parametric EQ, you have a lot of flexibility. Here's my favorite settings:

Level 11:00
Low 1:00
High 8:00
Middle 1:00
Mid Freq 3:00
Dist 12:00

You can try some of those mods, but I never personally felt it was necessary with my own Metal Zone. Of course, it does also depend on your amp and how that is EQ'd as well.  8)
