Hi

I'd like to add an onboard OD circuit ( Joe's Easy Drive) to my guitar, but i want to make sure i do it right. I drew up a diagram based on the original wiring and if somebody would check it and tell me if there's something wrong with it, i would grately appreciate it.

Hmmm
not 2 sure why U picked off the pickup switching sw(?)
easier just 2 come off the wiper of the volume out.
Guess U want 2 go thru tone control 2(?)
(after the effect)
Gnds & pwr look OK.
Seems like it would B easier 2 put circuit in a stompbox(?)
If the pickups are *powered*, then U already have batt in guitar.
U R adding DPDT sw 2 sw OD in/out.
U will have full output of pickups into effect.
No provision for reducing volume into effect.
Looks feasable......

You're saying that it won't go through the pickup selector anymore?  I wanted it to go before the volume control so i wouldnt need to add another pot for the circuit.

Mihkel

So, to sum it up, would it work?

Joe Davisson

It looks alright to me, might need a 1M pulldown resistor before the input cap (& after output cap) on the Easy Drive circuit to prevent popping. It should even run on a 3v disc battery, but I haven't tried it. Would need a lower collector resistor: 22k instead of 68k.

Where are you putting the DPDT switch?

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

maybe he means physically? where in the guitar are putting a dpdt?

Ooh..right...

See this picture of the guitar: http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/products/eg/pict_big/GAX30JB-2B-01.jpg

(Yeah I know it's not an excellent guitar, but its good for the price)

The switch goes either on the right of the pickup swith or between the pots.

Go to StewMac and get a DPDT push-pull pot.

Those concentric pots are cool too but require those special metal knobs. You could use one half of the pot to control tone and the other half to control boost volume.
