I built a Ross Compressor with the Tonepad board. I used a reverse audio pot for the sustain and it made a huge difference for the better. To see the image check out :

I used a "stone" spray paint. It covered REALLY well with two light coats after 1 coat of primer.  I then used clear coat acrylic three coats over that. It's a thick and durable finish.
