Besides the Microamp and the boss fa-1, are there any opamp boosts worth trying? I haven't found too many schematics for this.

Hi,

look at www.nobels.de to the Support section, there you can download
all the existing Pedal Schematics - for Booster, You need the PRE-01 or so....
