Hello everybody, i'm Gila from Switzerland. i got a question especially for moosapotamus.it's about the Hog's foot cause i want to build one. it only boost the bass or had also a bit of drive to the sound??? i saw tha Effector 13 used to made the "Dark Boost" a booster pedal wich added basss freq (search the web and you'll find a pair of clips to hear sound nice). does it work a bit like this device the hog???
i also sew there are 2 schem one simple with 1 transistor and another with an Op-amp/ic. di they the same job????
moosapotamus i'm sorry you site is down really liked it. can you maybe  make a zip file with all the file of the web page of the hog foot and send it to me??? if possible.
Thank guys

Ciao!!! :P

Hi, I built a Hog's foot a few weeks ago. It did not add any drive to the sound. It just seems to remove all of the high end. It sounds similar to turning the tone control on your guitar all the way down and boosting the low end on your EQ or amp - the sound gets really dull and boomy.
Here is a link to a schematic:
//www.muzique.com/schem/mole.gif (it also goes by the name Mole) You can substitute a 2N3904 transistor for the 2N5133. I have another diagram which lists the 3904 in the parts list but I'm not sure where it came from and don't have a link - all the other parts on it are identical to the ones in the above schematic link.
I think maybe a tone control and switchable clipping section would be good add-ons for this pedal.
I hear good things about the Bazz Fuss pedal. Supposed to be very good sounding bass distortion.

Scroll down the list, there are two versions of the Hog's Foot circuit there.

an idea that came to me was to put a muff fuzz and a hog's foot in serie in the same pedal... or another boost circuit.

here is the link of the effector 13 Dark Boost for those how are nterested, with sound clips

Here is another link with layouts for both versions no sound samples though. http://fuzzcentral.tripod.com/schematics.html scroll down the page.

I have one of hese lying about at the moment, it was given to me by a mate but it sounds awful, no real boost and very muddy so I thought perhaps changing the input and output caps too 0.047 or thereabouts might bring it to life a bit as it's wanted for guitar use

the guy of the japanese site told me that to work with guitar you have to remouve the C2 and C3 capacitors. i also thought about lowering the input and output capacitors a bit

Gila_Crisis

is there here someone that use a hog's foot/mole pedale with guitar????

by then from moosapotamus site another mode
I also added a switch that takes out the 39K resistor that goes to ground. Switching it out gives the bass boost a slightly brighter "punchy," sort of compressed, fuzzy tone
