I've just built a Bazz Fuss for my bass player.

I've built the 1st version

But I've made a darlington with two 2n5088 and added a 10k pot for drive going from the emitter to ground (like the Deluxe version).

Now.. testing it with my guitar i've just noticed some weird things... volume often decrease and when i use the drive pot sound disappears or becomes very weak form some seconds.. then it returns as loud as before...

Two points that may be helpful:

The Dirt pot in the DBF is 1k, not 10k.

The collector resistor needs to be lowered to 10k when using a darlington.  Use 100k for single transistors.

oh sorry i forgot the 10k resistor.. i used the right value of that res but i've used the wrong pot... anyway i've just put a 1k res in parallel to obtain a 1k pot.. the volume disappearing seems to be.. disappeared :P
