Hey. Here's a thought.

Build an envelope detector. Use it to sense bits of silence, usually the time between phrases in your playing. When a bit of silence is detected, switch to a new voicing or effects setup, so that each new phrase comes out as a different sound.

Selecting a different wah setting is an obvious one, but stepping to a new effects chain or switching some effects in and out is also reasonable.

Gets the "random sound" but does it in synch with your music.

Could be back and forth between two voices, round-robbin, or random.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

A nice implementation might be an 'auto-hocket' if you have a stereo set-up.  Pan a phrase hard left then the following phrase hard right, alternate between the two so you get a call and answer effect...

Left and right of a church choir...stereo panning is nothing new!  :)
