I dont think I totally understand this method.  Will the background of the transfer be clear or opaque?

That is, If I have a nice paint job, can I t-shirt transfer on labels, and clear coat over that...will it look nice ?  would there be a better way to do this?

thanks :-D

Dark t-shirt transfer material is opaque white. Printing on it will come out just like it would if you were printing on paper. Print your image, trim to size, peel off the backing, lay down face-up on your box, cover with the included protective paper, and iron following the included instructions for time and temperature.

Ironing on to a painted surface will burn the paint and get sticky ugly. The only kind of painting I've been able to get away with is painting only on the sides of the box.

On the subject, I have bought some from this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=46720&item=3830975816
and like it better than the Avery. The Avery has embossed ridges on the surface. The ridges want lots of clear coat to get a smooth finish. This auction stuff is smooth so it prints out nicely and clear coats easier.

so is stenceling the only way to go?
