Not sure what is meant by *Top*, but my list is *must builds for the DIY FX builder*, my main criterion being low-parts count/high utility (not in any particular order).

Bazz Fuss - great part count to sonic mayhem ratio.
Fuzz Face - you need at least one.
Rangemaster - with the right transistor and the right tube amp=magic.
AMZ Mosfet Boost - A great *utility* pedal.
Fetzer- Another tube amp accessory I wouldn't be without.

I actually use fewer pedals now because these simple FX allow me to get the sounds I want from my amp.

-Axis Face Silicon
-BSIAB II (haven't built one yet, but I love the way it sounds in the clip at JD's site!)
-Tycobrahe Octavia (fuzz and octafuzz with the toggle switch to turn the octave on and off).

WGTP, what's the FET version of the ToneBender (the MKII?).  I'd be interested in taking a look at that! :)

3-Rocket
4-Zack Wylde OD

Saludos, Marcelo.
Fuzz boxes don't need on/off switch!!!!!!!!

NaBo

1. YJM308 - what can i say, im a shredder at heart.  incredibly sweet and crisp.  leaves the dod 250 in the dust.  will be boxed permanently, im sure.
2. Tube Screamer w/ 1N34A's... like a nice warm hug from your speakers
3. Any big muff ever - yeah, its a fuzz, but cmon.  so freakin FAT.
4. Rat - excellent range from just slight dirt to insane mash
5. Uglyface - one of the funnest, easy-to-build, not-commercially-available diy pedals out there.  hardly your average "distortion" though, more like a semi-unpredictable multi-effects unit on drugs.  laser cannons are an invaluable addition to any band's lineup.

keep in mind I only considered ones i've actually built and played with, so it's not like im omitting the BSIAB2 or FF on purpose... just havent made em... yet.

WGTP

Phillip, the FET Tone Bender replaces Q1 with a J201 and Q2 and Q3 (FF section) with 2N7000's, with bias adjustments and cap tweeks.  A Multi-Face with the added input stage.
