hello, i am wanting to build a rangemaster style pedal, problem being a lack of available parts, so is there any schematics for a rangemaster or similar style pedal using common transisters?

http://www.diystompboxes.com/pedals/DallasRM2.jpg is a schem for a rangemaster, so is there any way to sub the transister for something more common and switch the positive ground if possible?

the only place i can really get parts is maplins, as there are no other electronics shops near me and i cant order online (no credit card or anything)

and preferably very simple, the rangemaster is appealing partly due to its simplicity, so nothing complicated if possible

much thanks

David

Sorry I can't help you...but I'm replying so I'll be notified...because I'd like that info also.

Here's my Rangemaster page, which includes the Rangeblaster, my NPN Germanium version of the circuit with some tweaks here and there.

You can substitute the 2N388A NPN Ge. with an AC127 NPN Ge. transistor (which will be a LOT easier to find in Europe) and it will allow you to use negative ground so it can be fed by the same power supply as all the other pedals on your pedal board.  Make sure to use the power supply filtering capacitor and metal film resistors...it'll sure enough boost any noise that may get into the circuit too! ;)  You may want to bump the filtering capacitor from 47uF to 100uF...I've been thinking about doing that myself.

For a NPN Silicon version, take a look at this project:

Hope this helps!
