Too much bass in DIY MT2

Hi,

I built a second MT2 and I'm getting a huge amount of bass from it when palm muting on E and A strings. So huge that it causes a "farting" sound in my tube amp especially at high volumes. All bass settings after 12 o'clock are unbearable.
I'm sticking to the original schematic /no fet switching/ and stock values for the passive components. I'm also using TL072, 1N4007 and  BC550C.
I noticed in the schematic that the bass is boosted at ~105 Hz first around the post clipping opamp and then at the EQ section again at 105 Hz. Could this double boost be the reason for this nasty peak I'm getting?
What would you suggest to eliminate this problem?
