Remote Volume Control - Craig Anderton Design and others...

Hello,
I know that Craig Anderton designed a way to control volume with a remote pedal. (so that circuit stay inside a rack for example and is controlled with CV).
But I read that this circuit might be a bit noisy, so before building it, I'd like to know if there are better alternative?
